About Dr. Melissa Franklin

Dr. Melissa Franklin is a Licensed and Board Certified Acupuncturist. and Doctor of Chinese Herbal Medicine. She has many years of real world experience diagnosing and treating patients in several clinical settings. Prior to obtaining her medical degree Dr. Franklin obtained her Masters Degree in Microbiology and Molecular Immunology from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center doing biomedical research on a gene linked to breast cancer. Dr Franklin’s background gives her the unique ability to integrate Eastern and Western modalities to ensure her patients receive the highest standard of care.

She holds Board Certification by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Aside from her busy private practice, she was the owner/director of the Art of Strength Training Center in Minneapolis Minnesota for 10 years where she was responsible for diagnosing and treating complex pain disorders through movement that had not responded to conventional treatments or surgeries.

Through this working relationship and years of postgraduate work in Functional Movement, Orthopedics, Sports Acupuncture and Pain Management, Dr. Franklin has condensed decades of real-life experience that she is passionate about sharing with her patients and other healthcare providers.

Dr. Franklin believes that the patient is an integral part of the healing process so often prescribes home exercise programs as part of the overall treatment plan.  

Having roots in Alpine since 1973, Melissa has been hiking the trails around Star Valley and paddling the Palisades for as long as she can remember. She is happy to be here with family living her best life in Wyoming!
